I know, I know. BDE is discontinued and stuff. But many people still need BDE running in new Windows 7 32 and 64 machines. Here is a working Setup for BDE 5.2.0.2 (the latest version released by Borland) plus all SQL Links.
- Remote Server Administration Tools (RSAT) enables IT administrators to remotely manage roles and features in Windows Server from a computer that is running Windows 10, Windows 8.1, Windows 8, Windows 7, or Windows Vista.
- To overcome this problem, Borland Database Engine has been created to perform BDL applications update. It is a valuable help to update BDL languages. It is mainly meant to update all programs and applications in BDL language. In addition, it can perform the update automatically. Once it has recovered the latest BDL version, it will install it.
Since Win10pro (1606) Borland Database Engine worked fine. I installed Win10pro build 1703 and when i run Database Desktop, it open saying that private and working dirs are invalid or undefined (administrator mode) and then, clicking OK, just closes. In my Delphi10 BDE is installed and runs ok. But my problem is that i can't open my paradox tables outside of my applications.Any help, please ?

Windows 10 Creators Update is breaking Borlands Database Desktop. The program looks like it's starting and them immediately crashes. I've tried this now on 3 machines so far. Has anyone else seen this? And doesn't anyone know how to troubleshoot this type of issue? Ive tried... A clean boot using MSConfig. Running in compatibility mode (All Windows versions tested). Ran Compatibility mode troubleshooter. Running it as an administrator.Nothing worked.
Thanks
UPDATE: The 'official' release just went live today and it still doesn't work.

Borlands Database Desktop and the underlying BDE engine were produced by Borland and have long been deprecated and don't ship with the latest Delphi and RAD Studio products. This has been the case for many years now. I don't think there is any plan to look into this very old technology -- and I work for the company.
I'd like to confirm this issue, dbd32.exe does not start after Windows 10 upgrade to Creators Update. Fortunately rolling Window 10 back to Anniversary Update and deferring upgrades solved this problem for me. I'm going to test BDE under Creators Update better on my second computer and I will post my findings here.
As Marco Cantù already stated, the BDE is depecrated. You can try if using an alternative BDE, e.g. BDE eXpress will work, otherwise you will have to rewrite that part of your application, or downgrade that machine to e.g. Windows 7 / 8.
